| New Data Entry Format & Data Storage Limits The IRS is changing the processing platform for electronic filing (eFiling). The new platform is called IRIS instead of FIRE. There are some data entry changes and the excel templates for importing have been updated. The change will be effective for filing Season 2026 for all 1099 series forms. This does not affect the W2 or W2C forms. There will be some difficulty rolling files forward due to the new format, so be prepared for some editing. New excel templates have been posted so use the templates to organize your data ahead of the change. We are committed to being your partner as we transition through this change and our team will be available to answer questions via email and chat. Please reach out to us with any questions as soon as possible. Security is always a concern for us, so we are taking this time of transition as an opportunity to update our Data Retention Policy. We will limit the amount of data stored on our servers by deleting data for tax years 2019 and prior. Please read the below policy for more information. Data Retention Policy 2025 If you have files in your account from 2019 and prior, they will be permanently deleted as of Dec 1, 2025. Please ensure you download any content you would like to keep for your records. As a way to further safeguard your data we will begin implementation of multi factor authentication using your cell phone for verification. Passwords will also have to be lengthened to 12 characters following our current protocols listed on the website. If you have any questions about the retention policy or how it affects your files, please contact us at support@wagefiling.com. Sincerely, The WageFiling Team |
